Survivor Moms' Companion® (SMC) Tutor Training for October 2026
Growing Forward Together (GFT) is excited to announce that the Superior Health Foundation has provided funding to support the training of home visitors to deliver the Survivor Moms’ Companion (SMC) program to families across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. This training will provide 17 continuing education credits.
October 6-7, 2026 - In-Person SMC Tutor Training
This two-day training will equip home visitors with the knowledge and skills needed to implement the SMC program in their communities. SMC provides trauma-informed, evidence-based support for pregnant and parenting families who have experienced childhood trauma.
Through this initiative, GFT is working to expand access to specialized support for families throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Attendees traveling one hour or more to the training may be eligible to receive a travel stipend.
What is the Survivor Moms’ Companion (SMC)?
The Survivor Moms’ Companion (SMC) Training is a structured, trauma-informed training designed to prepare participants to use the SMC program in their work with birthing people and early parents.
Important Dates
Orientation: Sept 30 at 12-1:30pm EST over ZOOM
Training dates: Tuesday, October 6 (10am-5pm EST) and Wednesday, October 7 (9am-4pm) EST at Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba, MI
Implementation: Oct 14 at 12-1:30pm EST over ZOOM
