Survivor Moms' Companion (SMC) Study Guide

An online self-study course for perinatal healthcare professionals

This self-study program is designed for:

  • Health professionals who work with pregnant or early parenting people and who
    want to know how to respond well in conversations about trauma.
  • Health professionals who want to know how to identify and refer trauma affected clients to SMC tutors in Michigan (and where available).

These modules teach:

  • How trauma affects childbearing and early parenting (one hour)
  • Managing posttraumatic stress reactions despite the presence of triggers (one
    hour)
  • Regulating intense emotions-from anger to numbing (one hour)
  • Regulating interpersonal reactivity-with providers and the baby (one hour)
  • Bonding with the infant and posttraumatic growth (one hour)
  • The study guide coaches you to apply the workbook content in your standpoint as someone who cares for survivor moms.
